Firsts

On Monday, Emma had her first doctor's appt. Usually, a newborn is seen 2-5 days after being discharged from the hospital, but we werent able to get an appt until  10 days after Emma was discharged from the hospital ( oh, military insurance and military hospitals, gotta love them).

Because the military hospital on base has pedicatricians and offers well baby visits, that is where we are required to go because of our insurance. So we didnt get to pick out Emma's pediatrician. :(

The base hospital's Well Baby clinic shares a lobby with the base's family health clinic and Urgent Care clinic. When we arrived for our appt, as soon as we stepped into the lobby, a nurse came over to us and quickly ushered us to a special waiting room for the Well Baby Clinic so we didnt have to expose Emma to the rest of the main lobby.  I was pretty happy about that.

The nurse then had us strip Emma down to her birthday suit so they could get an accurate weight. ( Thankfully, during this time Emma did not have to go to the bathroom!). Emma weighed in at 7lbs 13 oz. So only 1 oz away from her birth weight. They like for babies to return to their birth weight by two weeks after birth. Emma's doctor's appt was one day shy of two weeks,  so the doctor will have us come back in another 2 weeks to check her weight again.

Here we are in the examining room.

Emma was such a brave little girl.

Emma is a healthy girl! She also got her first hepatis shot. She was not happy about that at all. But while we waited the 20 minutes for the nurse to see if her shot sight got red and puffy, I nursed her in the Well Baby lobby. ( Thank God it is a small private lobby room)

In addition to Emma's first doctor's visit, a couple days after we brought her home from the hospital we gave her her first bath. Because her umbilical cord stump hasnt fallen off, it was just a wash cloth bath.

Anway, I have to run. I have ANOTHER doctor's appt to find a cure for this INSANE rash. The medication my OB gave me on Monday has not made any difference. Will post later!

How is it that you don't look sleep deprived in the first picture? Does insane joy over-ride the need for sleep, or is Emma letting you get some rest? :)
Who knew that so much cute could be packed in to less than 8 pounds!

Oh trust me, I am very much sleep deprived. But I think that's just how the rest of my life is going to be... ah...

Oh, what a doll Emma is. The yellow robe is so sweet on her. You look great and so happy!! Did the OB know what the crazy rash is?

She's totally precious, you've made a beautifull daughter :) Congrats on a clean bill of health, all the best to you both :)

You look so Happy, Motherhood Works well with you. Emma looks so tiny on that exam table all by herself! I loved to bathe my babies they would smell so sweet after a bath.
