We finally boarded a flight to Kadena Japan around 5:30pm. They loaded all of the passengers onto a bus and drove us out to the tarmac to get one what I think must surely be the world's largest plane. (C5). It was HUGE! The first floor of the plane was a giant cargo warehouse area. We had to then climb up a skinny ladder to get up the seating area on the 2nd floor. There were abotu 75 passenger seats. Comfortable, more leg room than commerical- but we didnt have any windows to look out and you actual fly backwards!
We reached Japan around 7:30pm but upon the decent I was struck by an INTENSE pain in my forhead. It's happened to me before on a flight, my sinuses dont do well with presssure changes. It feels like someone just shoved an ice pick in my forhead and my ears felt like they were going to explode and my upper teeth were even hurting really bad. I was in tears because the pain was so bad.
(Here's hoping that doesnt happen on any of the remaining flights!)
Our next flight wasnt until this morning, so we had to find lodging for the night. One hotel didnt accept children (??!!) but another did. We ended up in a pretty nice two bedroom family suite for only $39. Thank God the rooms we've had to stay in so far are cheap because these costs are adding up!
Right now, we are waiting to get on a flight to Hawaii- should be within the hour.
From there- I *think* we are still going to California, and then maybe still Texas. But things change often with military flights so I am not sure what will happen.

Thanks for the update!! I am enjoying hearing about your adventures!

Wow, flying backwards doesn't sound fun! If you are coming to CA, you should stop in Southern California and visit me. ;) Have fun!

Glad you made it to Hawaii...hope the rest of the journey goes well.
Try halls (or something with menthol for the decent...that's what I use).
Safe travels

ooo. I've had that pressure thing happen before to me too. NOT FUN! Sounds like you are having quite the adventure!

Actually, it'd descent and forehead, but I get what you're saying. I'd take some Dramamine if I were you. It'll knock you out. Good thing you have such a good attitude. One plane change is usually more than enough for me.

Did the hotel explain why they don't "accept" children? This is bizarre.
